Syracuse University Ambulance is required by law and is dedicated to maintaining the confidentiality of your medical health records.
SUA does not disclose your information without your direct permission. Patient Care Reports, the documentation completed regarding the care rendered, are only released under subpoena or written request by the patient or the patient’s legal guardian.
The Department of Public Safety and Resident Assistants are often present prior to SUA due to various circumstances. DPS responds to every on-campus call to ensure crew and bystander safety. DPS will inquire for patient demographics during the call to satisfy documentation requirements.
Exceptions
- Patient information can be disclosed to members of the responding crew or additional EMS agencies and fire agencies involved with the call.This is done in efforts to provide the best patient care possible.
- Patient information will be shared with receiving health care facilities.
