About Us

Our Mission

Women in National Security Logo

We strive to equip students with tools to live and work in an ever-changing world and how to best understand perspectives of varying communities. We are dedicated to creating a space where all feel comfortable to learn, participate, and continue developing their paths toward a well-rounded future.

Our History

Women in National Security is a professional student organization founded in 2023 at Syracuse University to amplify the voices of women in the Intelligence Community (IC), while connecting and inspiring anyone interested in similar career paths.

Since the organization’s inception, we have led informational sessions on the roles of IC elements and prominent women in the field, facilitated discussions on relevant issues, and hosted several guest speakers, providing our members with opportunities to learn from and ask questions to various professionals with experience in national security entities such as the DIA, DHS, DOS, CIA and FBI. WINS aims to create an expansive network of students, faculty, and professionals to foster productive discussion and support one another in pursuing meaningful careers.

Our Objectives

  1. To provide students with knowledge about regions around the world and US relations with them.
  2. To educate members about different government agencies and what it entail.
  3. To connect members with current experts in the government-related fields.
  4. To foster safe, respectful, and productive discussion.
  5. To encourage women to pursue occupations in government-related fields with confidence.
